Privacy Policy

EditorBuddy (editorbuddy.com) is an AI video-editing service: you upload a video, describe the edit you want, and our AI agents carry it out. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and how to get it exported or deleted. Questions go to editorbuddyapp@gmail.com.

• Account details. Your email address and, optionally, your name. If you sign up with a password, we store only a one-way hash of it, never the password itself. If you use Sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name and profile picture from Google.
• Your content. Videos you upload and the outputs we generate for you (edited videos, captions, thumbnails and similar files).
• Project data. Project names and status, job history, brand-kit settings (colors, fonts, caption style, custom vocabulary) and the editing preferences our memory feature learns from your projects.
• Session data. When you sign in we record a session with a hashed sign-in token and your browser's user-agent string.
• Usage analytics. See section 5.

Your video files are cut and rendered on our own servers. To understand and edit them, we send parts of your project to third-party AI providers:

• The audio track of your video goes to Groq for transcription.
• Text (your transcript, your instructions, project details and saved preferences) goes to large language models from Google (Gemini), Groq and Mistral AI, which plan and carry out the edit.
• Short search keywords derived from your project go to Pexels (stock video) and Epidemic Sound (music and sound effects) to find media for your edit.

These providers process data under their own terms. We don't use your content to train AI models.

If you connect a YouTube channel, we ask Google only for permission to upload videos (the youtube.upload scope). We store the resulting authorization token on our servers, never in your browser, and use it only to upload the videos you ask us to publish, with the title, description and privacy setting you choose. We don't read your channel's data. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions page, or email us to remove the stored token. This feature uses YouTube API Services, so the Google Privacy Policy also applies.

EditorBuddy's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We don't use Google user data for advertising or to train AI models.

We set essential, httpOnly cookies to keep you signed in: eb_session (short-lived, about 15 minutes), eb_refresh (keeps you signed in for up to 30 days) and, only during Google sign-in, eb_oauth_state (10 minutes).

When enabled, Google Analytics measures how the site is used (pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location) and sets its own cookies. Our app also includes PostHog product analytics, which runs only if we switch it on. Neither receives your videos or transcripts. We don't use advertising cookies.

Besides the AI and media providers above, we rely on:

• Cloudflare: website hosting, network and R2 file storage for uploads and outputs
• Supabase: our Postgres database for account and project data
• Upstash: Redis job queues and caching
• Oracle Cloud: servers that run our backend and video processing
• Google: Sign in with Google and, if you connect it, YouTube publishing

These providers may store or process data outside the country where you live. We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

EditorBuddy doesn't take payments today, so we don't collect any card or billing details.

We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting a project in the app removes its files from storage, and you can delete individual memory entries at any time. To get a copy of your data, or to have your account and all of its data deleted, email editorbuddyapp@gmail.com from the address on your account. We delete account data on request.

Passwords are hashed, session cookies are httpOnly, and your files sit in private storage that is reached through short-lived signed links scoped to your account. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you spot a problem.

EditorBuddy isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
